“It’s exciting,” said co-head coach Chris Malveaux. “It’s about the most convenient trip for us to make. We played Florida State in the fall. There’s a lot of familiarity between both teams. South Florida is a very good team and has some good tools. Robert Morris is also a good program. Any time you see your name called is pretty cool. We’re ready to go.”
This is the second straight season that Auburn will begin its NCAA postseason run at the Tallahassee Regional. The Tigers advanced to Sunday’s championship contest a season ago before falling to the Seminoles to end the season.
It is Auburn’s fifth appearance in the Tallahassee Regional and the fourth time in the last seven postseasons that Auburn has been sent to Tallahassee. Tonight’s selection also marks Auburn’s 11 consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, which dates back to the 2014 season.
The winner of the Tallahassee Regional will advance to face the winner of the Lubbock Regional in the Super Regional round. The Lubbock Regional features (12) Texas Tech, Brown, Washington and Mississippi State.
