AUBURN, Ala. – Senior shortstop Nelia Peralta and senior centerfielder Abbey Smith were both named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Softball Team on Tuesday.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
Smith and Peralta will both move to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 17. The pair mark the 15th and 16th overall CSC Academic All-District selections in program history. Peralta joins Kasey Cooper as a three-time honoree. Smith’s selection is the first of her career.
Peralta started all 59 games this season at shortstop for the Tigers. She finished second on the team with a .350 average behind a team-leading 63 hits. She also led the team with 49 runs scored while adding 37 RBI.
She knocked 10 doubles and 10 home runs for a .583 slugging percentage. It marked the first time since her freshman season that Peralta slugged double-digit home runs. The Wellington, Florida, native drew a team-leading 34 walks to help build a .450 on-base percentage.
Her senior campaign saw Peralta set career highs in batting average, runs scored and hits in a season. On top of hits, runs scored and walks, Peralta also led the Tigers in on-base percentage, total bases (105) and sacrifice flies (4) in 2025. She became just the sixth Tiger in program history to knock 190 career hits, score 120 career runs and record 120 career RBI in an Auburn uniform.
Peralta ended her career ranked in the top 10 in eight Auburn career categories including RBI (129), runs scored (126) and on-base percentage (.424). She graduated earlier this month with her bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a minor in sports coaching.
In her first season in a starting role, Smith started all 59 games at centerfield. She finished third on the team with a .329 average with 51 total hits. She recorded the first double, first triple and first home run of her collegiate career over the season. Her first collegiate home run solidified Auburn’s 2-1 upset win over No. 9 Oklahoma State.
The Houston, Texas, native scored 34 runs and added eight RBI. A staple on the base paths, she added a .407 on-base percentage with the help of 21 walks. She finished second on the team in stolen bases with a 14-for-17 mark.
Defensively, Smith held a .979 fielding percentage with just three errors in 142 chances. She recorded seven outfield assists, which ranked tied for third in program history.
Smith closed her career ranked fourth in program history in career stolen bases (48) and seventh in career stolen base percentage with an .842 mark. Smith earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a minor in sports coaching in May of 2024. She’s working towards her master’s degree in exercise physiology.
