GOLD CANYON, Ariz. – Women’s golf finished the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional in sixth place on Wednesday with a 54-hole score of 888 (+24) at Superstition Mountain Golf Club in Gold Canyon, Arizona. The top five teams from the regional advanced to the NCAA Championship and the Tigers finished one stroke behind fifth place Cal State-Fullerton.
Auburn sophomore Anna Davis earned the opportunity to compete in the NCAA Championship as an individual after firing a 1-under 215 in the event and finishing as the highest player in the field not on an advancing team.

“Obviously happy for Anna (Davis) to advance and have a chance to compete for a championship,” said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. “She will miss her team, though. We are all bitterly disappointed to miss by one shot. It really stings. This group will remember how this feels, and they won’t want to feel it again.”
Davis carded a final round of 1-over (73) with two birdies to claim the individual bid for the championship. The Auburn sophomore has now finished under par in six tournaments this season and placed in a tie for sixth.
Junior Katie Cranston recorded three birdies on her opening nine holes at Superstition Mountain Golf Club. Cranston ultimately shot 73 (+1) on Wednesday and finished the event in a tie for 12th place at 2-over (218).
Carys Worby played steady after a difficult start to shoot 2-over (74) in her final round and finished the regional in a tie for 28th individually at 8-over (224).
Freshman Balma Dávalos bounced back from a difficult second round by carding a 74 (+2) in her final round. Dávalos finished the tournament tied for 51st place.
Davis will compete for the individual NCAA Championship title May 16-19 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa Champions Course in Carlsbad, California.
