“Signing my first professional contract means everything to me. I am so grateful and so blessed to be living out my childhood dream,” Contreras said. “When I came to Auburn, the coaches and staff knew that playing professionally was always my end goal. Auburn elevated me to the level I’m at now, and I was very fortunate to have had that support from everyone around me. War Eagle!”
Contreras joins long-time Tigres veteran and Mexican National Team defender Bianca Sierra (2010-13) as the two active Auburn alums in Liga MX. She becomes the third Tiger to make their way the professional ranks this year, joining Anna Haddock (Vittsjo GIK) and Maddie Prohaska (Seattle Reign).
In two seasons donning the Orange & Blue, Contreras appeared in 33 matches, including all 21 last fall. A frequent set-piece target, the midfielder bagged five goals in her final season, four of which were headers. She also added five assists to her resume.
Including her time at Kennesaw State, Contreras wrapped up her collegiate career with 39 points on 14 goals and 11 assists.
Athletico de San Luis kicks off its next season in Liga MX in early July.
