AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men’s and women’s tennis received multiple academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday. Six men’s players and five women’s players were tabbed ITA Scholar-Athletes while both teams received the distinction of ITA All-Academic Teams.

On the men’s team, Thomas Kennedy, Nicholas Heng, Jake Kennedy, Joey Phillips, Alex Frusina and Mats Bredschneijder each earned the honor of ITA Scholar-Athlete. Heng, who will be a redshirt junior in 2025-26, is now a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete while Jake Kennedy has earned the title for the second consecutive season.

Auburn women’s tennis players Alice Battesti, Ava Hrastar, Natalie Outcalt, Maria Garcia and Emma Tothova were each given ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. Hrastar finishes her career as a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a player must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or above for the current academic year.

In 2025, 994 Division I Men’s student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 159 men’s tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction. 1,462 Division I women’s student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 222 women’s tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction in 2025.
