AUBURN, Ala. — Apollon Ladies FC, the top women’s professional soccer team in Cyprus, added a Tiger to its roster Tuesday as Mallory Mooney inked her first professional contract with the club ahead of its upcoming season.

“Signing my first professional contract is such a surreal feeling,” Mooney said. “I have dreamed of this my whole life, and it’s amazing to see all the hard work paying off. Auburn soccer played a huge part in achieving this goal. My coaches, staff and teammates helped create an environment that pushed me to grow every day, and I am so grateful for that. I wouldn’t be here without my Auburn family.”

Mooney becomes the fourth Auburn soccer alum to join the pro ranks this year, following Anna Haddock (Vittsjo GIK), Maddie Prohaska (Seattle Reign) and Becky Contreras (Athletico de San Luis).

The Broomfield, Colorado native wrapped up her career in the Orange & Blue following the 2024 season. While at Auburn, she appeared in nearly 90 matches, earned 78 starts and bagged 33 points on nine goals and 15 assists. As a freshman winger, Mooney made her mark with the program’s 12th hat trick, striking for three against Virginia Tech in April of 2021. After converting to defense, she helped the Tigers secure 23 clean sheets over her final three seasons.
