AUBURN, Ala. – Five current members of the Auburn men’s golf program will compete at the 125th edition of the United States Amateur Championship this week, Aug. 11-17, at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, California.
Dually hosted by the lake and ocean courses of The Olympic Club, the U.S. Amateur hosts 312 of the nation’s top amateur golfers all vying for the Havemeyer Trophy. Monday, Aug. 11 and Tuesday, Aug. 12 will see the men face off in 36 holes of stroke play before the field is cut to 64 ahead of the first round of match play on Wednesday, Aug. 13. The championship concludes with a 36-hole finale on Sunday, Aug. 17.
Competing this year are juniors Josiah Gilbert, Jackson Koivun and Cayden Pope, sophomore Billy Davis and freshman Logan Reilly. Koivun is the only man to have previously made the match play cut, as he did in 2023, and advanced to the quarterfinals.
Dan Stringfellow, a 2015 alum of the program, is also set to compete this week.
Koivun received exemption status, having qualified for the 2025 U.S. Open. Gilbert got in as a top 20 points leader in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). Gilbert, Pope, Reilly and Stringfellow all earned their way through respective qualifying sites.
Peacock and The Golf Channel will provide live coverage starting at 5 p.m. CT with Wednesday’s opening round of matches.
