AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men’s tennis will have four representatives at the ITA All-American Championships beginning Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Billy Blaydes, Freddy Blaydes, Nicholas Heng and Joey Phillips will open singles play in the prequalifying round, while both Blaydes brothers will compete in the doubles main draw.
Players who win two rounds of singles matches in prequalifying on Saturday and Sunday, along with two matches in qualifying on Monday and Tuesday, will advance to the singles field of 64 scheduled for Sept. 24-28. In doubles, Billy and Freddy Blaydes are one of 32 teams in the main draw, which will also be played Sept. 24-28.
Through the ITA All-American Championships, 10 singles players and four doubles teams will earn a bid to the 2025 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships. The eight main draw quarterfinalists and two feed-in consolation finalists in singles will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship. The four main draw semifinalist teams in doubles will advance to the NCAA Doubles Championship. The NCAA individual championships are set for Nov. 18-23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
This will be the first event of the season for Billy Blaydes, while it will be the second fall tournament for the other three Tigers, who competed at the Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic earlier this month. Freddy Blaydes and Heng finished as runners-up in their respective draw in the dual-format tournament.
