AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 3 Auburn equestrian team is kicking off the 2025-26 season in October and welcomed nine fresh faces to the squad—let’s get to know them!

Today’s feature is Emily Jurnovoy!

Class: Freshman
Hometown: Woodstock Valley, Conn.
Discipline: Jumping Seat
Prior to Auburn: Seventh place at New England Equitation Finals … Third in USET at Devon … Reserve Champion Age Group Equitation at Capital Challenge … Finished 10th at the Gladstone Equitation Challenge … Took first in Maclay at Devon.

Q: What made you want to go to Auburn?
A: “I loved how beautiful the campus is and how at home I felt when I visited. I also loved how close-knit the equestrian team is.”

Q: How long have you been riding horses? What was the name of your first horse?
A: “I’ve been riding horses all my life. My first pony’s name was Daisy.”

Q: What’s the biggest lesson horseback riding has taught you about yourself?
A: “The biggest lesson I’ve learned while riding horses is to stay patient no matter what happens.”

Q: What is the most challenging part about balancing academics and being a student-athlete? 
A: “The most challenging part about being a student-athlete is allocating my time effectively; making sure to leave time for the horses, my studies, as well as friends.”

Q: What are some hobbies and activities you enjoy doing outside of riding?
A: “I love to ski, cook, and bake.”

Q: What is one piece of advice you would give younger riders who want to compete in college? 
A: “Progression is assessed in a variety of different ways.”

Q: Describe the Auburn equestrian team in one word. 
A: “Cohesive.”

Q: If you could ride anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
A: “My family’s farm because it’s one of my favorite places, and it’s where I grew up riding."

Q: Who or what inspires you most when you ride?
A: “My grandmother because she is my biggest supporter and also rides herself.”

Q: What’s one thing about Auburn equestrian that most people don’t know?
A: “Every member of Auburn equestrian is an incredibly hard worker. Everyone pushes themselves in workouts and during practice. They help so much with chores and horse care around the barn.”
