AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn soccer outshot, outcornered and outpossesed LSU Thursday night at the Auburn Soccer Complex, but could not find the right bounce to put away as the Tigers (5-3-3, 1-1-2) dropped their first SEC contest of the season to the Bayou Bengals (6-5-1, 1-2-1) by a score of 3-1.

Auburn’s defense allowed zero shots to LSU through the opening 19 minutes of the match and just two through the first 40; however, LSU finished its second chance, the result of a failed clearance on a corner kick, to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Senior Erin Flurey responded with her eighth goal of the year in the 52nd minute. Flurey’s goal was a carbon copy of LSU’s opener – a failed corner clearance that got sent right back up the gut and into the back of the net.

LSU’s Ava Galligan headed in her team’s second in the 68th minute. Two minutes later, the match went into a weather delay that spanned two hours and 44 minutes. Sariah Bailey struck for a third LSU score quickly out of the delay to ultimately put the match out of reach.

On the night, Auburn outshot LSU 22(7) to 6(5) and created nine attacking corners to the Bayou Bengals’ four. Gracie Brown (82), Olivia Woodson (80) and Dylan Driver (77) all saw career-high minutes in the contest.

Up next, Auburn hits the road to face No. 13 Vanderbilt in Nashville on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. CT.
