AUBURN, Ala.—Auburn men’s basketball freshman guard Simon Walker sustained a right foot injury in practice last week that resulted in a successful surgery on Tuesday, head coach Steven Pearl announced Friday.

Walker underwent the procedure in Birmingham at Andrews Sports Medicine by Dr. Charles Pitts. The Huntsville, Ala., native is expected to make a full recovery and return to the court later this season.

“Simon has been one of our most improved players since he stepped foot on campus this summer, I’m incredibly proud of the strides he’s made,” Pearl said. “This is a minor setback, and I have no doubt that he will attack his rehab just as aggressively as he attacked his development this summer.”

The 6-4, 195-pound guard was a four-star prospect out of Huntsville High School and was the No. 2 ranked player in the state of Alabama as a senior.
