AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 3 Auburn equestrian team is kicking off the 2025-26 season in October and welcomed nine fresh faces to the squad—let’s get to know them!

Last one of the series is Libby Wilhelm!

Class: Freshman
Hometown: Prosper, Fla.
Discipline: Western
Prior to Auburn: 2023 NYATT Horsemanship Champion at the AQHA Congress … 2024 World Champion in L2 Hunt Seat Equitation at the AQHYA Youth World Show … 2023 Reserve World Champion in L2 Hunt Seat Equitation at the AQHYA Youth World Show … 2024 Bronze World Champion in Western Pleasure at the NSBA World Show.

Q: What made you want to go to Auburn?
A: “The community at Auburn is unlike any other. Auburn is so incredibly welcoming and I felt at home right away.”

Q: How long have you been riding horses? What was the name of your first horse?
A: “I have been riding horses since I was six years old so for about 11-12 years. My first horse was a little red Appaloosa mare named Addy.”

Q: What’s the biggest lesson horseback riding has taught you about yourself?
A: “The biggest lesson that riding horses has taught me is good or bad, appreciate what you have. It doesn’t matter where I place if I have an amazing horse, team, and family by my side.”

Q: What is the most challenging part about balancing academics and being a student-athlete? 
A: “The most challenging part about managing both athletics and academics is time management. You have to be very skillful in the way that you use your time and make sure to plan."

Q: What are some hobbies and activities you enjoy doing outside of riding?
A: “I love to read! I could read a book a day if I had the time!”

Q: What is one piece of advice you would give younger riders who want to compete in college?
A: “Stick with it. Some days it will be very hard to stick with riding, and you may feel like you want to quit, but I PROMISE all the hard times will be so worth it in the end!”

Q: Describe the Auburn equestrian team in one word. 
A: “United.”

Q: If you could ride anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
A: “I would love to ride anywhere in Europe. Riding in another country seems amazing."

Q: Who or what inspires you most when you ride?
A: “My goals and the people around me. I always think back to my goals to keep going. And looking at those around me and learning.”

Q: What’s one thing about Auburn equestrian that most people don’t know?
A: “We have the best horses ever!”
