PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The United States won the 50th edition of the Walker Cup, defeating Team Great Britain and Ireland 17-9 Sunday evening at Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, California. Auburn’s own Jackson Koivun accounted for three of the USA’s points with one win in foursomes and two in singles.

Playing alongside Texas’ Tommy Morrison, Koivun dropped his opening foursomes match on Saturday, falling 3&1 to Florida State’s Tyler Weaver and Texas Tech’s Connor Graham. He responded with a resounding win over Weaver in singles later that afternoon, clinching a 4&3 victory with a birdie on the 15th hole.
On Sunday, Koivun and Morrison found redemption with a gutsy comeback victory. The pair trailed by one heading to 17 but was able to take advantage of a pair of bogeys from their opponents to win the final two holes, clinching the match 1-UP.
Koivun closed out his Walker Cup debut with a 3&2 singles win against Weaver Sunday evening. He won the ninth hole to take a 1-UP lead and never looked back, eventually putting the match away with a tie on No. 16.
