AUBURN, Ala.—Auburn sophomore guard Tahaad Pettiford has been named preseason first team All-SEC by a vote of selected SEC and national media, the conference office announced Monday. The Tigers were also predicted to finish sixth overall in the league standings.
A native of Jersey City, N.J., Pettiford averaged 11.6 points and 3.0 assists a game during his freshman campaign while helping the Auburn Tigers to an SEC Championship and the Final Four. Despite starting in just one game, Pettiford was third on the team in scoring and first in assists.
He was honored on the SEC All-Freshman Team and NABC Division I All-Southeast District Second Team in 2024-25 and named to the NCAA South Region All-Tournament Team after averaging 17.3 points and 2.5 assists in four wins leading up to the Final Four.
Pettiford was joined on the All-SEC first team by Alex Condon (Florida), Josh Hubbard (Mississippi State), Otega Oweh (Kentucky) and Labaron Philon Jr. (Alabama).
The defending SEC Champions, which lost five starters from last season, were selected sixth in the predicted order of finish behind Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Arkansas.
Auburn will play against Oklahoma State in the Ballin’ in Boutwell exhibition in Birmingham on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. CT. The Tigers will open regular season action on November 3 versus Bethune-Cookman at Neville Arena.
