Jamel Dean became the second cornerback in the league this season to log a forced fumble and an interception in the same game, leading the Buccaneers to a win against San Francisco to highlight an action-packed NFL weekend.
That and more in this week’s Auburn Made NFL rundown.
K.J. Britt, LB, Miami Dolphins
Britt posted a career-high 13 tackles in the Dolphins’ two-point loss against the Chargers Sunday, marking his second career double-digit tackle performance. Seeing his first extended action of the season, the fifth-year linebacker led Miami and tied for third in the NFL in tackles in week six, recording 10 solo stops and three assisted tackles in the contest. Playing in 61 snaps, good for the fifth most on the Dolphins defense, Britt turned in a 75.8 run defense grade for the week and his 77.6 run defense grade for the season in a career best to this point.
Daniel Carlson, K, Las Vegas Raiders
Carlson went 2-for-2 on field goals, including a 50-yarder, in the Raiders' 20-10 win over the Titans. His 50-yard field go on the team’s first drive of the game started the scoring in the contest and marked his third field goal of 50 or more yards this season. The eighth-year pro extended Las Vegas’ lead to 20-3 with a 29 yarder midway through the fourth quarter and continues to be perfect within 30 yards this season. Carlson, who ranks top 10 in the NFL in field goals made this season (11), has finished in the top six in the category in four of the last five seasons and is the second in Raiders history in career field goals made.
Jamel Dean, CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Dean posted his first career sack while forcing a fumble and hauling in his second interception of the season to help lead Tampa Bay to a 5-1 start with a win over the 49ers. After recording a strip sack in the second quarter, Dean’s interception of Mac Jones with 5:52 remaining in the game preserved an eight-point lead and led to the Bucs’ game-sealing field goal with less than 2:00 on the clock. Through six weeks this season, Dean leads NFL corners with a PFF overall grade of 90.1 and pass rush grade of 99.6 while also ranking fifth with a coverage grade of 80.9, all career best numbers to this point in the season. He has given up eight catches on 19 targets, and opposing quarterbacks have turned in a 20.8 passer rating when targeting him.
Jamien Sherwood, LB, New York Jets
Sherwood led the Jets in tackles for the fifth straight week and matched a season high with 13 tackles against the Broncos in London. His 13 tackles tied with fellow former Auburn Tiger KJ Britt for third in the NFL in week six and marked his 11th game with double digit tackles in the last two seasons, including his fourth this year. A year after ranking tied for third in the NFL in tackles (158), the 2025 Jets captain again ranks tied for third in the league in tackles (60) through six weeks. The fifth-year pro added his second pass defender of the season, and his 87.1 run defense grade to this point in the season is good for a career best and ranks seventh among NFL linebackers.
