BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After leading the Tigers to victory at The Clerico at Southern Hills, Auburn junior Josiah Gilbert was named the Southeastern Conference’s Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
It’s Gilbert’s first Player of the Week honor this season, but the fourth of his career.
At the Clerico, Gilbert went 72-64-71 for an impressive 3-under to clinch low medalist by one stroke. It was his third career win and second of the fall season. He led the 63-player field in both par-5 scoring (4.17) and birdies (14).
As a team, Auburn shot 8-over to win its first event of the season by six strokes.
