MEDINAH, Ill. – Auburn sophomore Balma Dávalos led the Tigers through the first two rounds of the Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah Country Club on Monday in Medinah, Illinois. Dávalos shot 9-under 135 to take a two-shot lead on the individual leaderboard.

As a team, Auburn is 14-under (562) through 36 holes and sits in third place, 10 shots behind leader UCF.

"This afternoon was a lot of fun watching Anna (Davis) and Balma (Dávalos) play some great golf," said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. "Our keys to good scoring prior to the tournament were strong par five play and bogey avoidance on par 3s as they are pretty challenging. We did not take advantage of the par 5s in round one, but made up for it in the second round. It's going to take a really low round to have a chance to win tomorrow, but we look forward to the opportunity."

Dávalos fired an opening-round 67 (-5) and followed with a second-round 68 (-4) on Monday. The Auburn sophomore opened the event with three consecutive birdies and finished the round with six birdies total. She went bogey-free in her second 18 holes to lead the field through the first day of competition. Dávalos has now broken 70 in each of her last three rounds, dating back to a final-round 66 at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational.

Anna Davis bounced back from an opening-round 74 (+2) to shoot 5-under 67 in her second round. Davis recorded three birdies and an eagle on No. 16 to move into a tie for 17th place individually.

Sophomore Anne Fernandez carded a bogey-free 70 (-2) to open the day and is even through two rounds (144). Katie Cranston is also even-par with one round to play, as both Tigers are tied for 39th on the individual leaderboard.

Senior Rachel Gourley provided a counting score in round two with an even-par 72 that included two birdies.

Competing as an individual, freshman Charlotte Cantonis shot 1-over 145 and is tied for 48th place.

The final round of the tournament will be played Tuesday. Live scoring will be available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
