AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men’s tennis will compete in the ITA Southern Regional Championships, set for Wednesday through Tuesday at the University of Alabama Tennis Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
The tournament features all Division I programs from Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The two singles finalists will earn automatic bids to the NCAA Singles Championship, while the doubles champions will secure a spot in the NCAA Doubles Championship later this fall. Last season, Billy Blaydes and Will Nolan became the first Auburn doubles team to win the Southern Regional title since 2009.
Play will open Thursday with two rounds of singles qualifying to determine 16 players advancing to the singles main draw. The first round of doubles and the opening round of main draw singles are scheduled for Friday, followed by the second round of doubles and the next two rounds of singles on Saturday.
The doubles round of 16 and quarterfinal rounds in both draws are set for Sunday, with semifinals taking place Monday. Championship matches for singles and doubles will conclude the event on Tuesday.
For Auburn, Thomas Kennedy and Jake Kennedy will begin in singles qualifying, while Billy Blaydes, Freddy Blaydes, Nicholas Heng, Hamza Nasridinov and Joey Phillips will open play in the singles main draw. In doubles, Billy and Freddy Blaydes will team up, Heng will pair with Phillips, and Nasridinov will partner with Jake Kennedy.
