AUBURN, Ala. - As the Malveaux era enters its second season on the Plains, a bevy of newcomers will wear the Orange and Blue at Jane B. Moore Field for the first time. Throughout the fall, we’ll introduce the 13 fresh faces joining the program.

Hailing from Livermore, California, infielder Delaney Aumua brings a powerful bat to the Tiger lineup. The true freshman was a two-time East Bay Athletic League Offensive Player of the year and added 2025 Prep Softball All-American honors. The slugger knocked over 35 home runs over her high school career. 

Q: How old were you when you started playing softball?
Aumua: I was four years old when I started playing rec softball.

Q: How is Auburn different from your hometown?
Aumua: It is actually really similar. It gives a small hometown feel that I was looking for and like my hometown, it is family oriented.

Q: What has been the best piece of advice you have been given?
Aumua: Keep an open mind and immerse myself in college. My family told me to be myself and to really take in the college experience.

Q: What is your major? What are your plans following your playing career?
Aumua: My major is psychology, and I am minoring in sports coaching. I'd like to help coach youth softball.

Q: What is your favorite softball memory?
Aumua: Probably committing to Auburn. It was a big goal of mine to get a big scholarship so my family doesn't have to worry about college payments.

Q: Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?
Aumua: I am very superstitious. I have a very specific routine before every game that includes how I put on my clothes, what foods I eat and what music I listen to.

Q: What is your jersey number? Does it have any special meaning?
Aumua: My jersey number is 43. I have always had it since I was young and some people in my family have worn the same number.

Q: What is your favorite food/restaurant?
Aumua: I love a simple turkey and cheese sandwich. I love sandwich shops as well.

Q: If you could only watch one show/movie for the rest of your life what would it be and why?
Aumua: I would watch Moana. It is a movie about my culture, and it had a big impact on me when I got to see it with all of my cousins.

Right when I got here, I felt the family-oriented environment. I just fell in love with how the team operates, and I love how Auburn is really unified. It is very similar to my hometown.

Q: What was your dream job as a kid?
Aumua: I really wanted to be a sports commentator. I would always replicate how they were talking, especially with the Oakland A’s.

Q: How would your friends/teammates describe you in one word?
Aumua: Funny. I tend to break the tension when it is an awkward situation.

Q: Do you have a favorite song that you listen to on game days?
Aumua: I listen to Blessed by Cuuhraig.

Q: What made you choose Auburn Softball?
Aumua: Right when I got here, I felt the family-oriented environment. I just fell in love with how the team operates, and I love how Auburn is really unified. It is very similar to my hometown.

Q: What is one thing that not a lot of people know about you?
Aumua: I have over 10 first cousins.

Q: What advice would you give to girls who want to play softball?
Aumua: Start out having fun. It can be a hard sport if you don't fall in love with the game. The mental aspect is a big thing that plays a part in your game that can really affect you.
