AUBURN, Ala.— Alex McPherson has been honored with the 2025 Pat Sullivan Impact Award, the Birmingham Monday Morning Quarterback Club announced on Tuesday.

“The Monday Morning Quarterback Club is honored to recognize Alex McPherson as this year’s recipient of the Pat Sullivan Impact Award,” Tommy Sisson, Monday Morning Quarterback Club Captain said. “This award honors Coach Sullivan’s exemplary character that he displayed through his integrity, courage, faith and kindness. All of these values ring true of Alex, even in the adversity that he has faced and overcome. His life is an inspiration to others. We congratulate Alex and wish him continued success and prosperity.”

McPherson has battled through adversity including multiple health challenges over the last two seasons losing more than 40 pounds before his return to the team this summer.

A native of Fort Payne, he is a former All-American and All-SEC performer that ranks first in Auburn history connecting on 88.4 percent of his career field goals (38-of-43). That mark ranks among the top 15 of active FBS kickers.

McPherson is also among Auburn’s career top 10 for field goals made and point after touchdowns.

Established in 2024 by the Birmingham Monday Morning Quarterback Club, the Pat Sullivan Impact Award is named in honor of Heisman Trophy winner Pat Sullivan. It recognizes individuals in the world of sports whose lives and career have positively impacted others. Recipients are known for their craft and for demonstrating character, leadership, service, perseverance, and teamwork. The award also acknowledges individuals who have faced significant challenges in their lives and have shown tremendous character through adversity with integrity, courage, and determination, often leaning heavily on their faith. It may be given to athletes, coaches, or others who have inspired and impacted those in the world of sports. The annual recipients are selected by a standing committee of the MMQBC in consultation with the Sullivan family.

About the Monday Morning Quarterback Club

The Monday Morning Quarterback Club of Birmingham was established in 1939 by Sports Editor of the Birmingham News, Zipp Newman. Zipp’s vision for the club was to express fellowship among fellow football lovers. At the time of the club’s creation, polio was the number one medical concern facing the nation, so the club and others in the community, raised over three million dollars to build the Crippled Children’s Clinic. When the Crippled Children’s Clinic was sold to UAB, the Crippled Children’s Foundation was formed from the proceeds of the sale, which continued the club’s passion and activism for fundraising. In 2020, the Crippled Children’s Foundation was renamed the Quarterbacking Children’s Health Foundation to become more inclusive and reflect the broader scope of giving. Since its inception, the club’s lifetime giving has exceeded $33 million to children’s health-related charities. For more information is available at www.mmqbc.org.
