AUBURN, Ala.— Our American Story, America250’s national storytelling initiative, will visit Auburn for the iconic 90th Iron Bowl, marking the program’s first visit to a sporting event during the year-long tour.
“We’re incredibly excited that the Iron Bowl has been chosen as one of the first live sporting events on the America250 tour," Auburn Deputy AD Rhett Hobart said. "This rivalry is full of history, pride, and passion, and it truly shows what makes our communities and our country so great. Huge thanks to the America250 team and the entire Auburn Family—your passion helps create the best atmosphere in college football and is the reason moments like this are possible.”
As part of Saturday’s game, the America250 logo will also adorn Pat Dye Field, as a symbol of how college football brings Americans together.
Our American Story is more than a tour—it is a national movement to elevate the voices, values, and lived experiences that have shaped our nation. As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, the initiative invites Americans across all 50 states and U.S. territories to share stories of family, community, identity, service, and belonging. Through guided, one-on-one interviews conducted by trained facilitators, the project is capturing a collective portrait of the American experience.
“College football has always been a place where community, tradition, and pride come together—and that’s at the heart of Our American Story,” said Rosie Rios, Chair of America250. “As we approach the 250th anniversary of our nation, we’re honored to bring this initiative to the Iron Bowl, a moment that reflects the spirit, passion, and shared experiences that define America. Every story collected here helps us build a richer, more complete portrait of who we are as a nation.”
The Our American Story mobile tour will be stationed at Toomer’s Corner and features a refurbished Airstream travel trailer wrapped in America250 branding. Previous stops have been in Massachusetts, Maine, Arkansas, Mississippi and Virginia with future visits in Georgia and Florida scheduled for the coming weeks.
Facilitated by trained interviewers, sessions will follow curated storytelling prompts centered around themes of identity, service, community, and personal legacy. Conversations will be recorded and archived, and a portion will be preserved at the Library of Congress, ensuring these voices become a permanent part of the American record.
Select stories — especially those featuring veterans, educators, and intergenerational families — will be shared with the public through collaborations with documentary filmmakers, broadcast outlets, and digital platforms.
The initiative began with a ceremonial launch on the National Mall including remarks from America250 Chair Rosie Rios and Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser. Washington, D.C., icon and NFL Super Bowl Champion Darrell Green.
Whether you’re reflecting on a family journey, honoring a community leader, or simply sharing what it means to be American today, Our American Story is your opportunity to be heard. As this rolling time capsule crosses the nation, it invites us all to listen, to learn, and to connect through the stories that bind us together.
