AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn women’s tennis will have players competing in the ITA South Sectional Championships, held Thursday through Sunday at the LSU Tennis Complex in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Bids to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships will be awarded through the event.
DJ Bennett, Ava Esposito and Alice Battesti will each compete in singles, while Bennett and Esposito will team up in doubles. Battesti had a strong showing in singles at the ITA Southern Regional Championships, reaching the quarterfinals after three victories. Bennett and Esposito have not previously competed together as doubles partners in a collegiate event.
From the 16-player singles draw, the semifinalists and two quarterfinal playoff winners will earn bids to the NCAA Singles Championship. On the doubles side, three teams from the eight-team draw will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship — the two finalists and the winner of the third-place match.
The tournament will begin with the opening round of singles, followed by the first round of doubles on Thursday. The next two rounds of singles will be played Friday morning, with the doubles quarterfinals and consolation quarterfinals to follow. On Saturday, the semifinals of both singles and doubles will be held, and the tournament will conclude Sunday with the finals and consolation finals for both events.
Live video and scoring for select matches will be available at LSUsports.net, and updated draws can be found at wearecollegetennis.com.
