AUBURN, Ala.— Auburn freshman guard Harissoum Coulibaly was named SEC Freshman of the Week for women’s basketball, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Coulibaly averaged 15.0 points to lead the team over the Tigers’ two wins last week. In the Tigers’ game at Middle Tennessee last Tuesday, she made her first career start and scored a team-leading 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting while also sharing the team lead with four assists. Two days later, she scored 14 points off the bench in a win over Alcorn while swiping four steals along with three rebounds and two assists.
For the season, Coulibaly leads Auburn in scoring with 11.4 points per game, coming off the bench in 12 of 13 games. She also leads the Tigers in field goal percentage, shooting 56.0 percent from the floor.
This is the first SEC weekly honor for Coulibaly. She shares this week’s Freshman of the Week honor with LSU’s Grace Knox.
The Tigers wrap up non-conference play Monday, Dec. 29, when they host Jackson State at Neville Arena. Tip is set for 1 p.m. CT.
