AUSTIN, TexasHarissoum Coulibaly scored 11 points to lead Auburn, but No. 2 Texas was too much in a 97-36 win Thursday night at the Moody Center.

“I thought we started the game off trying to compete and trying to fight down low,” Auburn head coach Larry Vickers said. “Once Khady picked up her second foul, that messed up everything we were trying to do. We’ve got to do a better job initiating offense and getting in the paint. That’s not the type of basketball we’ve been playing.

“We’ve got to figure out a way to get out of this rut. But this isn’t a good time to be in a rut with our schedule. Mentally, we’re going to have to burn this tape and get ready to play again on Sunday.”

The Longhorns forced Auburn into 26 turnovers, which turned into 40 points for Texas (18-0, 3-0 SEC). Texas controlled the inside game, scoring 58 points in the paint and out-rebounding the Tigers 50-19.

Texas also took advantage of numerous chances at the free throw line, hitting 24-of-29 free throws while the Tigers only attempted 10, making six. Auburn shot a season-low 29 percent from the field (14-48) while Texas shot 54 percent (36-67).

Kaitlyn Duhon and Sania Richardson scored seven points each for the Tigers.

Auburn (11-6, 0-3) is back home for its next two games, starting with a Sunday showdown against the Florida Gators. It’s Alumni Day and We Back Pat at Neville Arena; game time is 2 p.m. CT.
