AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men’s tennis has signed Australian talent Duje Markovina, head coach Bobby Reynolds announced Tuesday. Markovina will join the Tigers as a freshman in fall 2026.
“Duje Markovina was one of our top prospects in the 2026 class because of the person he is and the standard he sets every day,” Auburn head coach Bobby Reynolds said. “He carries himself with integrity, humility and a genuine respect for the people around him, which aligns perfectly with the values of the Auburn Family.
“Duje is an extremely disciplined worker who takes pride in his preparation, embraces hard days and consistently looks for ways to improve his game. His success in ITF juniors is a direct result of that work ethic, and his ambition to pursue professional tennis at the ATP level speaks to the clarity of his goals. He fits the culture of our program seamlessly, and his upward trajectory over the next four years made him a player we were extremely excited to bring into Auburn tennis.”
In 2021, Markovina was awarded the Drazen Petrovic Award, presented annually to the top young male athlete in Croatia. He reached a career-high ITF junior ranking of No. 57 in January 2025 and earned a career-high ITF singles ranking of No. 317 in November 2025.
Markovina earned a bid to the 2025 Australian Open Junior Championship, where he reached the round of 32 after defeating Hyu Kawanishi of Japan. He currently holds an ATP singles ranking of No. 1308 and reached a career-high doubles ranking of No. 1016 in December 2024.
Originally from Croatia, Markovina currently resides in Split, Australia, and has two brothers, Ivan and Roko.
