MELBOURNE, Fla. – No. 8 Auburn women’s golf posted the best round in the field on Monday at the Moon Golf Invitational at Suntree Country Club. The Tigers fired a second-round 283 (-5) to pull within three strokes of the lead. Auburn freshman Charlotte Cantonis led the team in round two, carding a 7-under 65.

"I don't think I have ever witnessed a 14-shot turnaround like Charlotte did today," said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. "An amazing hole-out from 85 yards for eagle finished her fantastic round. Her whole goal was to post a good score to help her team, which helped close the gap from the lead. Our group is looking forward to competing for the win."

Auburn entered the round trailing No. 6 Texas A&M by seven strokes but cut the deficit to three by the end of the second round. The Tigers are in second place as a team, leading third-place No. 7 Wake Forest by six shots. Auburn has found success on the par 5s at Suntree Country Club, playing them at 5-under par and the team is third in the field in total birdies through 36 holes with 27.

Cantonis made the turn at 3-under after recording three birdies on the front nine. She then birdied two of her first three holes on the back nine before finishing with an eagle on the par 5 18th hole. Cantonis’ round marks her second 65 of the season, as she also carded a 65 (-8) in the opening round of The Nanea Invitational in October.

Cantonis bounced back from an opening-round 79 (+7) and is now even par for the event, which places her in a tie for seventh place individually.

Molly Brown Davidson followed her opening-round 70 (-2) with a 2-over 74 in round two, finishing with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 17 and 18. Davidson is tied with her teammate for seventh place on the individual leaderboard.

Auburn senior Katie Cranston carded an even-par 72 on Monday. Her 36-hole score of 146 (+2) places her in a tie for 17th individually. Redshirt senior Carys Worby also shot even par in round two with the help of a couple of back-nine birdies. Worby is 3-over for the tournament (147) and tied for 24th place.

Anna Davis and Anne Fernandez, who is competing as an individual, each carded 3-over 75s in round two and are tied for 30th at 4-over (148).
