AUBURN, Ala. – Coming off a season-opening sweep of Youngstown State, No. 5 Auburn (3-0) gets its first full week of action started by hosting Cincinnati (2-1) Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT at Plainsman Park.

The game will be broadcast on the Auburn Sports Network and can be heard locally on Wings 94.3 FM. It will also be broadcast digitally on SEC Network+.

QUICK HITTERS

Auburn started the season 3-0 for the fifth time under head coach Butch Thompson and the 29th time in the modern era (since 1949).

The Tigers opened the season with two one-run wins for the first time in program history.

The pitching staff struck out 43 batters and issued just six walks in 26.0 innings, marking the most strikeouts in a three-game series since at least 1992.

Starting pitchers combined to strike out 29 and issue one walk in 16.0 innings pitched.

The pitching staff threw 70 percent strikes for the entirety of the season (248/355), highlighted by the starting rotation that threw 74.6 percent strikes (147/197).

The Tigers came out of the weekend as the national leader in WHIP (0.65) and ranked in the top 10 in hits allowed per nine innings (3.81), strikeout-to-walk ratio (7.17) and strikeouts per nine innings (14.9).

Auburn is 31-8 at home since the start of the 2025 season and has won all nine of it regular season home series during that span, going a combined 22-5 in those games.

Alvarez is set to make his season debut Tuesday. He didn’t allow a run in his last four appearances and 16.0 innings pitched in 2025.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS

Entering its third season under head coach Jordan Bischel, Cincinnati opened the season with a series win at Jacksonville State. The final two games of the series were decided by one run.

Offensively, Cincinnati hit .208 as a team and scored 17 runs in the three games. Ryan Tyranski led the way with a .333 average (2-for-6), while Jackson Smith drove in a team-high four runs. The Bearcats were 11-for-12 in stolen bases on the weekend.

On the mound, the Bearcats posted a 3.12 team ERA, allowing nine earned runs in 26.0 innings, while holding Jacksonville State to a .179 batting average against.
