AUBURN, Ala. – Coming off its Amegy Bank College Baseball Series championship, No. 5 Auburn (6-1) starts a nine-game homestand Wednesday vs. West Georgia (1-7). First pitch at Plainsman Park is set for 6 p.m. CT.

The game will be broadcast on the Auburn Sports Network and can be heard locally on Wings 94.3 FM. It will also be broadcast digitally on SEC Network+.

“The last time we played here at Plainsman Park we didn’t play fast or play the way we wanted to play,” head coach Butch Thompson said. “We responded good, but can we learn some lessons and invest and get back out on this field at Plainsman Park and feel good, feel like we’re doing what we’re trying to do consistently? Can we be mentally and physically consistent and show up, and can we grow from a lot of things that we need to do better.”

A limited number of single-game tickets and Hall of Fame Club access passes for Wednesday’s contest remain available and can be purchased here.

QUICK HITTERS

Auburn is coming off its second straight 3-0 trip to Arlington after posting wins against Kansas State, No. 9 Florida State and No. 15 Louisville.

The Tigers have won eight straight games at Globe Life Field dating back to the program’s inaugural trip to the venue in 2022.

Of the eight straight wins in Arlington, four have come against top-15 foes.

The pitching staff has registered 91 strikeouts through seven games, 18 more than last year’s total and the most through seven games since 1997 (104).

The team has 12 or more strikeouts in six of the first seven games.

Auburn enters week three ranked in the top 10 in the NCAA in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.69; 2nd), walks allowed per 9.0 innings (2.32; 6th), WHIP (0.95; 8th) and strikeouts per 9.0 innings (13.2; 9th).

The offense responded from last Tuesday’s contest with 23 runs on 35 hits in three games, good for a .350 team average with four players turning in five or more hits in the tournament.

Auburn is 31-9 at home since the start of the 2025 season.

Tuesday marks the first time Auburn and West Georgia have played since 1993.

Auburn leads the all-time series 12-0 by a combined margin of 104-28.

SCOUTING THE WOLVES

West Georgia enters the week with a 1-7 overall record, coming off three losses by a combined seven runs at Little Rock, including a pair of one-run losses and one in 11 innings.

Offensively, the Wolves are hitting .237 with 37 runs on 64 hits. Senior infielder Gabe Wuerth leads the way with a .375 average while fellow senior infielder Andon Lewis paces the team with 11 hits.

On the mound, West Georgia has turned in an 8.41 ERA with 50 strikeouts and 51 walks in 70.2 innings pitched. However, the Wolves lowered their ERA to 5.06 in three games last weekend. Right-handed pitcher Maverick Torres will make his fourth appearance and first start of the season for the Wolves Wednesday.
