AUBURN, Ala. – Capping off a preseason that included numerous All-America honors among other recognitions, sophomore infielder Chris Rembert was named to the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, USA Baseball announced Friday.
Rembert is the 11th Auburn player to be named to the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, including the eighth since 2018.
The preseason list includes 55 players across high school and college baseball based on their body of work from the previous year. The Golden Spikes Advisory Board will maintain the award’s watch list on a rolling basis, allowing athletes to play themselves into consideration for the award based on in-season performance.
Key dates for the 2026 Golden Spikes Award include:
- Midseason Watch List – Apr. 2
- Semifinalists – May 14
- Finalists – June 10
- Winner – June 29
A sophomore from Pensacola, Florida, Rembert has also earned the following preseason recognitions prior to the 2026 season that begins next Friday.
- Preseason First Team All-SEC
- Preseason First Team All-America: Baseball America, D1 Baseball, Perfect Game, The Diamond Report
- Preseason Third Team All-America: NCBWA
- Baseball America Preseason Player of the Year Watch List
Rembert returns as Auburn’s leading hitter after turning in a .344 average with 14 doubles, 10 homers and 46 RBI as a freshman. The Pensacola, Florida, native led the league with a .485 on-base percentage in conference games and ranked third with a .376 average. He went on to become Auburn’s first freshman to earn first or second team All-SEC honors since 2008 along with earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors. He was named First Team Freshman All-America by Baseball America, D1 Baseball and NCBWA and earned second-team honors from Perfect Game.
Rembert and the rest of the Tigers are one week from the start of the 2026 season as they will play host to Youngstown State from Feb. 13-15 at Plainsman Park.
