BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After a come-from-behind win earlier this week at The Hayt, Auburn junior Jackson Koivun was the undeniable choice for SEC Golfer of the Week, which was announced by the league office Wednesday.

It is the third time this season and the 12th time in his career that Koivun has received the honor.

Monday at Sawgrass Country Club, the Chapel Hill, North Carolina native clinched his eighth career victory in an 11-under showing at The Hayt. He opened the tournament with a 68 (-4) followed by a 70 (-2) to trail by two strokes heading into the final round.

With 18 holes to win it, Koivun did exactly that, making 13 pars and five birdies, including a birdie on his 54th and final hole, to seal the win by a single shot. The performance not only extends the All-American’s top 10 streak to six straight events but also is his third win in four starts this spring.

Additionally, Koivun was the main contributor in No. 2 Auburn’s third team win of the season. The Tigers wrapped the week at 28-under-par to come out on top in a field consisting of eight top 25 teams and 17 of the nation’s top 50 players.

Koivun and company return to action later this month as they head back to Florida for the Valspar Collegiate, set for March 23-24 at The Floridian.
