AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn sophomore Molly Brown Davidson and freshman Charlotte Cantonis were each awarded SEC weekly honors, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Davidson was named SEC Player of the Week, while Cantonis was tabbed SEC Freshman of the Week for the third time this season.

Davidson won all three of her matches at the Old Barnwell Derby Match Play this week, helping the Tigers claim the team title. The Springville, Alabama, native defeated Alabama’s Natachanok Tunwannarux 3&1 in the first match on Sunday, then defeated Mississippi State’s Sam Whateley 1UP with a win on the final hole in the semifinal round. In Tuesday’s championship match, Davidson earned a 2&1 victory over Duke’s Andie Smith with an eagle on No. 15.

Cantonis also claimed three match victories during the event. The freshman came back from 1-down through 15 holes to defeat Mattison Frick of Alabama 1UP. She then won the final two holes in her second-round match against Mississippi State’s Moa Stridh to win 1UP. On Tuesday, Cantonis defeated Duke’s Katie Li 6&5.

The wins from both Davidson and Cantonis were pivotal, as the Tigers defeated all three opponents by a 3-2 margin to win their fifth team event of the season.

Auburn will travel to the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. The 54-hole stroke-play event will be held March 23-24.
