LAS VEGAS — Auburn will play for a trophy Tuesday as the No. 2 Tigers enter the final round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate two shots back of the leader, No. 1 Virginia, at 13-under-par following Monday's second round at Southern Highands Golf Club.
Auburn bettered its Sunday score by a single shot at 7-under. Freshman Logan Reilly did the heavy lifting with a marvelous day that resulted in a clean 67 (-5). He bounced back from a tough opening round by shaving nine strokes off his prior performance.
Jake Albert and Cayden Pope also went subpar on the day, shooting 71 (-1) and 70 (-2), respectively. Albert leads the lineup heading into the final 18 at 4-under. He is three back of the individual leader.
Jackson Koivun and Josiah Gilbert both sit tied for ninth at 3-under-par ahead of Tuesday.
