AUBURN, Ala. – Starting another week of four games against top-15 foes, No. 11 Auburn (20-7) finishes its midweek series with No. 3 Georgia Tech (22-5) Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT at Russ Chandler Stadium.   

The game will be broadcast on the Auburn Sports Network and can be heard locally on Wings 94.3 FM. It was also air on national television on ESPN2.

QUICK HITTERS

Auburn is 5-1 in midweek games and has outscored the opponents 46-9 in the last five.

The Tigers haven’t allowed more than two runs in each of the last four midweek games.

The team is in the middle of a stretch of 31 of the last 34 games of the season coming against ranked opponents.

Tuesday marks the sixth game of the season against a top-10 team (3-2).

Christian Chatterton is set to make his first start of the season Tuesday.

In three career appearances vs. Georgia Tech, including two midweek starts last season, Chatterton has allowed two runs on three hits with 12 strikeouts in 9.0 innings.

Starting pitchers turned in a 1.59 ERA with 25 strikeouts and five walks in 22.2 innings pitched in four games last week.

Starters have turned in at least 5.0 innings in 22 of 27 games this season with one occasion of not doing so occurring because of a rain delay.

Auburn leads the all-time series against Georgia Tech, 128-113-6, and has won five straight and nine of the last 11 against the Yellow Jackets.

The five straight wins is the most by either team in the series since 1967-77.

SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS

Georgia Tech enters the week with a 22-5 overall record and 9-3 mark in ACC play. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a sweep of NC State and have won five of six games since leaving Plainsman Park two weeks ago.

Offensively, Georgia Tech is the national leader in batting average (.365), runs (307), scoring (11.4) and on-base percentage (.488). Junior catcher Vahn Lackey leads the way in most offensive categories including average (.423), runs (36), home runs (10) and RBI (36). Five qualified players are hitting .380 or higher.

On the mound, the Yellow Jackets have turned in a 4.50 staff ERA with 248 strikeouts and 115 walks in 222.0 innings pitched. Freshman lefty Cooper Underwood will make his fifth start of the season and is 1-0 with a 6.97 ERA.
