AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men’s golf competes in its final event of the regular season this week when it tees off at The Ford Collegiate, April 13-14, at the Ford Field and River Club in Richmond Hill, Georgia.
“I love this golf course; it’s one of the best in the Southeast,” Tigers head coach Nick Clinard said. “Two different nines. The front is going to be more treelined, the back is more open and marshy with a links-type look to it. It’ll be a great preview for us to go out there and compete and get ready for SECs.”
Auburn competed in The Ford last spring and finished third at 4-over. Cayden Pope and Jackson Koivun tied for seventh place at 1-under to lead the lineup. Josiah Gilbert also competed and shot 10-over. The junior trio is back for more this week alongside sensational freshmen Jake Albert and Logan Reilly.
Sophomore Billy Davis is also set to compete as an individual player this week.
Auburn rolled out the same six a week ago at the Mason Rudolph Championship, and it resulted in a 17-shot victory for the Tigers. Each member of the starting five finished inside the top 11, highlighted by Koivun’s ninth career win to lead the pack.
To make it two straight wins, Auburn will need to rise to the top of a field that includes six top 25 programs. Inside those six are No. 7 LSU and No. 4 Texas, both of whom got the better of the Orange & Blue at last year’s tournament. Texas shot 2-under to clinch the win.
Also at The Ford this year are No. 16 Oklahoma, No. 19 Georgia Tech, No. 23 Georgia, RV Notre Dame, Army, Augusta, Georgia Southern, South Carolina and Wake Forest.
For Monday’s 36-hole day, Auburn will play alongside the Longhorns and Demon Deacons. Reilly kickstarts the action at 7:30 a.m. CT.
