AUBURN, Ala. – Junior Avery Glynn and sophomore Caroline Olsen earned national recognition as both were named a National Collegiate Equestrian Association Rider of the Year, the NCEA announced Wednesday.
Glynn was honored as NCEA Flat Rider of the Year, while Olsen was named NCEA Fences Rider of the Year. It marked the fifth time an Auburn Tiger earned the recognition both in Fences and Flat. It was also Auburn’s second straight honor in Fences as Glynn won the national award last season.
“I’m really excited for Avery and Caroline and their national recognitions,” head coach Jessica Braswell said. “They each have had very successful seasons and are so deserving.”
Olsen, of Sherborn, Massachusetts, stands at 10-1-1 this year in Fences with two Most Outstanding Performer honors. Both MOPs came on the road. Olsen finished with a 5-1-0 record on the road this season and had nine wins vs. ranked opponents. She scored a career-high 87.5 and is averaging an 82.3 in the event.
Her national recognition goes with her SEC Co-Fences Rider of the Year as well as her SEC Freshman Fences Rider of the Year and NCEA First Team All-America honors. She also secured All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman Team recognition in Fences.
Glynn stands at 10-2-0 on the Flat with all 10 victories coming against ranked opponents. She put together a 5-1-0 mark on the road and had five MOPs this season. She reached a season-high 94 and is averaging an 83. She was named NCEA Rider of the Month in October as well as SEC Rider of the Month in October and March.
The Petaluma, California product was named the SEC Flat Rider of the Year and earned NCEA First Team All-America recognition as well as All-SEC.
