AUBURN, Ala. – No. 8 Auburn women’s golf will begin its quest for an SEC Championship on Friday at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida. The first three rounds of stroke play will take place Friday through Sunday before the top eight teams advance to match play on Monday and Tuesday.
“Pelican Golf Club is a great golf course,” Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. “The owner of Pelican is an Augusta National member, and he bought this club several years ago to revamp it. It’s in impeccable condition and a really fun course to play.
“In the past, we have played the course well, and last year we were a bit challenged by it. We learned from previous years there as coaches how to prepare our team and hit the appropriate shots. There are a lot of elevated greens, some tough approaches and some difficult chipping.”
After three rounds of stroke play featuring all 16 teams, the top eight teams will be seeded for match play. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played Monday, and the championship match will take place Tuesday. The individual championship will be awarded to the leader following 54 holes of stroke play.
Auburn will enter the postseason after finding success in regular-season events. During the 2025-26 campaign, the team has won five tournaments, which is tied for the most in a season in program history. The Tigers claimed titles at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational (560, -16), Tar Heel Invitational (835, -5), UCF Challenge (840, -24), Moon Golf Invitational (857, -7) and the Old Barnwell Derby Match Play.
Auburn has a rich history at the SEC Championship with 10 titles. Since the match-play format was introduced in 2018, the Tigers have won the event once, claiming the 2021 title. Six Auburn players have won an individual SEC title: Margaret Platt (1987), Diane Rama (1989), Marci Clemons (1996), Danielle Downey (2000), Maria Martinez (2006) and Patricia Sanz (2012).
Auburn players will begin the opening round at 7:10 a.m. CT off No. 10. Live scoring of each round will be available at scoreboard.clippd.com. The semifinals will be streamed live on SEC Network+ on Monday, and Tuesday’s championship match will be televised on SEC Network.
