AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn women’s tennis is the top-ranked team in the nation according to the latest national team rankings released Tuesday morning by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). This marks the first time in program history that the Tigers have reached No. 1 in the poll.
“Being No. 1 in the computer rankings, especially after the conference tournaments, is a remarkable achievement,” Auburn head coach Jordan Szabo said. “It’s probably right up there with winning the championships as the highest accolade you can get. The full body of work for the season is in play with all wins and losses accounted for.
“All of the credit to the players for having an amazing regular season and start to the postseason. We have one goal left and we’ll keep getting ready for that in the coming weeks. Very excited to be ranked No. 1 in the nation and hoping we can stay there.”
The highest ITA ranking in program history entering the 2026 season was No. 4, but the Tigers broke that record when they earned a No. 3 ranking on March 10 before breaking the record again by becoming the No. 2-ranked team on March 24.
Auburn is now the No. 1-ranked team in both major college tennis polls, as UTR Sports College Tennis Ranking also has Auburn in the top spot. The Tigers have remained No. 1 in UTR’s rankings each week throughout the 2026 season.
The Tigers reached the top of the rankings after winning a share of the SEC regular-season title earlier in the month and claiming the tournament crown at the 2026 SEC women’s tennis championship Sunday in Norman. In the conference tournament, Auburn downed No. 12 Florida, No. 2 Texas A&M and No. 15 LSU to win the first SEC championship in program history.
The Tigers are 32-3 overall this season and have won six consecutive matches. Auburn will discover its seeding for the NCAA women’s tennis championship during the selection show, which is scheduled for April 27 at 2:30 p.m. CT. The show will be streamed live on NCAA.com.
