AUBURN, Ala. – No. 20 Auburn men’s tennis has been selected to play in the Waco Regional for the opening rounds of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship in Waco, Texas, the NCAA announced Monday. Auburn will be the 2-seed at the regional.
The Tigers will face Santa Clara, the regional’s 3-seed, in the first round on Friday at a time that is to be determined, while 1-seed Baylor will also play 4-seed Tulsa on Friday. The winners of each respective match will face off in the round of 32 match on Saturday at a time that is to be determined.
“I’m really excited about our opportunity to go to Baylor, be a part of that regional and play Santa Clara,” said Auburn head coach Bobby Reynolds. “I think we’ve set up ourselves really well for this position. Ultimately, everything that we’ve done up to this point is for the NCAA Tournament.
“I feel like we’re rested, we’ve been playing some great tennis these last couple of weeks and now it’s about showing what we’re capable of doing. I’m excited to see what these guys can put together and hopefully have a really long run in the NCAA Tournament.”
Auburn has earned a bid to the NCAA Championship for the 25th time in program history and for the fifth consecutive season. The Tigers picked up the bid after posting a 16-10 overall record with five top-25 victories.
