BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the third time this season, Auburn’s Jake Albert and Jackson Koivun swept the weekly Southeastern Conference golf awards, the league office announced Wednesday.
Albert earned SEC Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this year. The only other rookie in program history to win it more is Koivun, who was named the league’s freshman of the week five times over the course of the 2023-24 season.
At last weekend’s Mason Rudolph Championship, Albert shot 6-under to finish tied for third, which was his third top five in five appearances. It was also his seventh consecutive top 20.
Albert and Koivun were Auburn’s two lowest scorers in what proved to be a runaway victory for the Tigers at the Mason Rudolph.
Koivun was named SEC Golfer of the Week for the eighth time in his career after yet another low medalist outing last weekend. The Chapel Hill, North Carolina native shot 12-under with just three bogeys, one eagle and 13 birdies to win by two and lock up his ninth career win. The victory was Koivun’s fourth in six starts since February.
Both men will lead the top-ranked Tigers back into action for the final time this regular season early next week, April 13-14, as they tackle the Ford Collegiate in Richmond Hill, Georgia.
