DALLAS – Junior third baseman Eric Guevara and redshirt sophomore pitcher Alex Petrovic have been named semifinalists for the 2026 Dick Howser Trophy, the Dick Howser Trophy Committee and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced Thursday.

Guevara and Petrovic are two of 48 semifinalists for the 39th annual award, and Auburn is one of 12 programs with two or more player recognized. The 2026 finalists for the award will be announced on Thursday, June 4.

Guevara leads the team and ranks top 10 in the Southeastern Conference in with a .349 overall against and .350 mark in league play. He has registered career highs in nearly every offensive category including hits (67), runs (43), doubles (12), home runs (11) and RBI (45), another mark that is good for the team lead.

The Panama City, Panama, native went on a 17-game hitting streak from Mar. 27-Apr. 23, the longest by an Auburn player since 2023, and leads the team with 14 multi-RBI games while tying for the team lead with 21 multi-hit games. He has seven games of three or more hits and three or more RBI.

Petrovic has been a key dog in Auburn’s rotation since week one, serving as the game three starter all season. The right hander leads the team in innings pitched (71.1) and has turned in an 8-2 record and 3.15 ERA in 13 starts. Petrovic is holding opponents to a .203 average against and has a 0.97 WHIP, good for the third best mark in the league.

The starting pitcher in Auburn’s last five rubber games, Petrovic is 4-0 with a 2.97 ERA and .194 average against in 30.1 innings pitched during the span. With eight wins on the year, he has teamed up with fellow sophomore starter Andreas Alvarez to become the first pair of Auburn teammates since 2000 to win eight or more games in a season.
