LEXINGTON, Kentucky — On the final day of the NCAA East Preliminaries, the Auburn women notched two more NCAA qualifiers in sophomore discus thrower Camryn Massey and the 4x100m relay team.
Massey earned her first berth to the outdoor championships with a throw of 57.31m/188-0 on her second of three attempts to finish fourth, easily securing one of the 12 qualifying spots. The Gastonia, N.C. native is the fourth different Auburn woman to qualify for NCAAs in the event over the last five years.
The women’s relay qualified for nationals for the first time since 2018 as the foursome of Danae Nembhard, Reese Webster, Shonedra Richardson, and Sophia Efetobore ran a season-best 43.52 to finish 10th overall and earn the second of three non-automatic qualifying spots. The time was the eighth fastest in program history and the best in eight years.
It was an outstanding four days for the Auburn men and women as the Tigers combined earned 17 bids to the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 10-13, at Historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
The Auburn men qualified eight sprint events, including five individuals in the 100m dash, two throwers, and the 4x100m relay. On the women’s side, the Tigers qualified five in the throwing events and the 4x100 relay.
Competition in Eugene will begin on Wednesday, June 10, with the men’s semifinal rounds in most running events and finals in select distance and field events.
