AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn equestrian head coach Jessica Braswell has named Caroline Becker assistant coach for the program.
Becker, a 2017 graduate of Auburn University, joins the coaching staff after spending the past four years as Auburn’s IHSA coach. She’ll serve as the program’s jumping seat coach and will serve in other capacities with the team.
“I am so excited to announce that Caroline will be joining our coaching staff,” Braswell said. “I have had the privilege of knowing and watching Caroline from the time she came to camp as a high school prospect through her career as a student-athlete and as a coach for the IHSA team for the past four seasons. She is an outstanding coach and leader. She is very conscientious, hardworking, has a passion for the horses and will help develop our young women in and out of the arena. Caroline is a proven winner with a love for Auburn. I can’t wait for Coach Becker to start working with our student-athletes and help us compete for championships.”
“I am so excited to be taking on this new role,” Becker said. “I was very fortunate to get to learn from Coach Braswell, Coach Williams and Coach Meneely as a student-athlete and I’m looking forward to continuing to learn from them and now work alongside them in this new position. I can’t wait to get started and help this prestigious team add more championship rings to their collection. A special thank you to my family and Coach Braswell for their belief in me. War Eagle!”
With the Auburn IHSA team, Becker coached the team to regional reserve high point team in all four seasons, while coaching the team to 11 high point team wins and seven reserve high point team wins.
She coached riders to multiple high point and reserve high point wins and helped 20 riders qualify for regionals, seeing six become regional winners. Ten of her riders qualified for zones, one of which was a zone winner. And overall, she helped one of her athletes place fifth in the nation in intermediate fences.
“I’m so grateful for my time coaching the IHSA team and I look forward to continuing to support and cheer them on from the sidelines,” Becker said. “I’ve had the privilege of getting to know the student-athletes on the Auburn team over the last four years and I’m eager to build deeper relationships with them as their coach. Our program is also home to an outstanding group of horses that I’m so thankful I will have the opportunity to continue working with.”
