CARLSBAD, Calif. – Jackson Koivun made history Wednesday as the first player in Auburn history and the 34th player in Division I history to be named a three-time PING First Team All-American.
It’s the 43rd time a Tiger has garnered All-American honors, and the 23rd time since head coach Nick Clinard’s arrival on The Plains prior to the 2009-10 season.
Koivun has made his junior season an undeniable one, winning six times in 10 starts, paired with three top 10s and a third-place finish in the other four appearances. The junior became the first player in the history of the sport to win multiple Haskins and Hogan Awards when he was named the recipient of both earlier this week.
Second Team, Third Team and Honorable Mention All-Americans will be released by the GCAA at a later date.
Koivun and the No. 1 Tigers go for their second national title in three seasons later this evening, teeing off in the NCAA Championship match starting at 2:25 p.m. PT. Golf Channel coverage begins at 3 p.m. PT.
