PHILADELPHIA – Chris Rembert was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the 51st overall pick in the second round of the 2026 MLB Draft Saturday in Philadelphia.

Rembert becomes the sixth-highest draft pick under head coach Butch Thompson, who has now produced 50 MLB draft selections in his 11 seasons.

This year's draft marks the 52nd consecutive year dating back to 1975 Auburn has had at least one player selected in the MLB Draft, tied for the longest streak in the Southeastern Conference. It marks the 11th straight season under Thompson the Tigers have had at least one top-five-round pick, also good for the longest streak in program history.

A First Team All-SEC and Second Team ABCA All-Southeast Region selection in 2026, Rembert led Auburn with a .343 average and 80 hits as a sophomore. He scored 37 runs and added 13 doubles, one triple, four homers, 46 RBI and 12 stolen bases. Saving his best for last, he ended the year on a 19-game hitting streak, the longest by an Auburn player since Anfernee Greier’s 22-game streak in 2016.

An instant impact player from Pensacola, Florida, earning consensus Freshman All-America honors in 2025, Rembert turned in a .344 career average in two seasons and 115 games for the Tigers. He totaled 152 hits, 86 runs, 27 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs and 92 RBI in his time on the Plains.
