AUBURN, Ala. – After four standout seasons on the Plains, former Auburn soccer defender Erin Houston signed her first professional contract Wednesday with Athletico de San Luis, one of the clubs in Mexico’s top women’s division, Liga MX Femenil.

“Signing my first professional contract is a dream come true,” Houston said. “I’m so thankful for everyone who helped me get to this point. Auburn challenged me every single day to grow on and off the field, and those experiences gave me the confidence and preparation to compete at the pro level. I’ll always been grateful to have been an Auburn Tiger, and I cannot wait for what’s ahead.”

Houston joins Tiger teammate Becky Contreras at San Luis. She also becomes the ninth Auburn player in the last two years to enter the professional ranks. She follows Maddie Prohaska (Racing Louisville), Anna Haddock (Vittsjo GIK), Contreras (Athletico de San Luis), Mallory Mooney (Apollon Ladies FC), Sydnie Thibodaux (FC Zeny), Taylor Chism (Tampa Bay Sun), Manu Baptista Filipe (Sligo Rovers) and Erin Flurey (Thor KA).

In four seasons donning the Orange & Blue, Houston appeared in 73 matches, 44 of which were starts. She dished out five assists and contributed to 32 clean sheets.
