AUBURN, Ala. – First Team All-SEC defender Hayden Colson signed her first professional contract Friday. She is set to join Grindavik/Njardvik in Iceland’s top women’s division.
“Signing to play pro soccer is a dream I’ve had since I was little,” Colson said. “I’m so incredibly blessed that it has finally become a reality. I’m very excited to continue playing the game I love at the next level while experiencing a new part of the world. None of it would be possible without Auburn and the support system it provided me the last four years.”
Colson joins 2026 teammate Erin Flurey in the Iceland Urvalseild league. She also becomes the tenth Auburn player in the last two years to enter the professional ranks. She follows Maddie Prohaska (Racing Louisville), Anna Haddock (Vittsjo GIK), Contreras (Athletico de San Luis), Mallory Mooney (Apollon Ladies FC), Sydnie Thibodaux (FC Zeny), Taylor Chism (Tampa Bay Sun), Manu Baptista Filipe (Sligo Rovers), Erin Flurey (Thor KA) and Erin Houston (Athletico de San Luis).
In four incredible seasons on the Plains, Colson appeared in 77 matches, starting all but one, while solidifying 32 clean sheets. The Denton, Texas, product split time between holding mid, outside back and center back, but also contributed to the Tigers’ attack with two goals and a trio of assists.
After commanding the field in all 18 matches last fall, 14 of which resulted in full, 90-minute performances, Colson was rewarded with a spot on the SEC’s First Team as a defender.
