ARDMORE, Pa. – Auburn’s Logan Reilly advanced to the match play semifinal round of the 126th U.S. Amateur held at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, following a quarterfinal win Friday afternoon.
Reilly, a rising sophomore from Lovettsville, Virginia, will face Jay Leng Jr., a junior from Stanford, in the semifinal round Saturday beginning at 1:15 p.m. CT.
After posting a 2-under 138 in the stroke play portion of the event to advance to match play, Reilly posted wins over Emile Lebrun (19 holes), Evan Liu (2&1) and Ryder Cowan (20 holes) to reach Friday’s quarterfinal match.
Facing Liberty’s Michael Lugiano, Reilly quickly won the first hole and held the dominating advantage throughout, finishing with a 6&4 victory after hole No. 14.
“Played really good today and it was a great feeling not to have to go into those late holes,” Reilly said. “I came in here hoping to play one day at a time and have a tee time the next day. Looking forward to tomorrow.”
Reilly is Auburn’s first semifinalist since 2023 when alum J.M. Butler advanced to the final four.
