AUBURN, Ala. – Rising senior Josiah Gilbert of the Auburn men’s golf team will represent the United States at the 2026 Walker Cup as he was named to the 10-player team, the USGA Teams Selection Committee announced Sunday night. Rising sophomore Logan Reilly was named second alternate for the Americans.

The two-day event is set for September 5-6, 2026, at Lahinch in County Claire, Ireland.

“What an incredible honor for these two,” Auburn head coach Nick Clinard said. “Playing for your country is something many work towards, but most don’t achieve. We’re beyond proud of these two and we’re looking forward to see them represent Auburn and the United State of America at Lahinch.”

Gilbert follows Jackson Koivun (2025 – USA); Lee Williams (2003, 2005 – USA) and Blayne Barber (2011 – USA) as Auburn’s Walker Cup representatives. Associate head coach Chris Williams also played for the 2011 American squad alongside Barber.

During the 2026 Auburn championship run, Gilbert was the team’s low man in both the NCAA Regionals and NCAA National Championship. His 2-1 match-play record was highlighted by his 4-and-3 victory over Oklahoma State’s Ethan Fang in the semifinals as well as a win over Jay Leng Jr. of Stanford in the quarters. Gilbert earned PING Second Team All-American and First Team All-SEC honors this year and is currently ranked in the Top 10 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking system.

Joining Gilbert on Team USA is Kihei Akina (BYU), Ryder Cowan (Oklahoma), Ethan Fang (Oklahoma State), Stewart Hagestad, William Jennings (Alabama), Jay Leng Jr. (Stanford), Miles Russell, Preston Stout (Oklahoma State) and Tyler Watts (Tennessee).

Reilly, who recently finished as a semifinalist at the 2026 U.S. Amateur, joins Max Herendeen as an alternate for Team USA.

The United States leads the Walker Cup 40-9-1 all-time. The Americans have been victorious in five consecutive cups, winning the 2025 edition 17-9 at Cypress Point Club.

Nathan Smith, a three-time Walker Cup player and four-time U.S. Mid-Amateur champion, will captain Team USA once again this fall.
