AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn women’s tennis has added Maya Iyengar to its roster for the 2026-27 season, head coach Jordan Szabo announced Tuesday. The American standout became the top-ranked recruit in the nation by Tennis Recruiting in 2025.
“We are incredibly excited to announce the signing of Maya Iyengar,” said Szabo. “She is one of the top American recruits in the country, played in the women’s U.S. Open and has competed in all of the junior Grand Slam events. Maya could have gone anywhere in the country, and we are excited to help her holistic tennis development. She is exactly the type of player and person that will help Auburn win championships.
“Maya is determined to be a professional player, and we appreciate her trust in us to help improve her tennis and life through the program.”
Iyengar, a native of Scottsdale, Arizona, achieved a career-high WTA singles ranking of No. 727 in July. She also holds a career-high ITF juniors ranking of No. 29.
Iyengar won the J300 Houston Pan American Championship and reached the finals in singles and doubles at the U18 National Billie Jean King Championship. She also participated in the U.S. Open singles qualifying draw in 2025 and has appeared in all junior Grand Slam events.
“I’m extremely excited to join the Auburn Family and begin this next chapter of my career,” said Iyengar. “From the start, I felt like Auburn was the perfect place to continue developing my game and challenge myself every day. I’m so grateful to Coach Szabo and the entire coaching staff for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I can’t wait to get to work, keep growing as a player, and represent Auburn. War Eagle!”
Iyengar’s uncle, Ajay Ramaswami, played collegiate tennis at LSU and played professionally.
