AUBURN, Ala. – Looking to remain unbeaten, the Auburn women’s soccer team visits UAB on Thursday for its first of two consecutive games in Birmingham this week. Kickoff at PNC Field is slated for 7 p.m. CT.
Last time out, Auburn (3-0-2) drew even with Georgia State on Sunday night, 1-1. Senior Dylan Driver opened the scoring with an early goal in the 14th minute, but GSU’s Aaliyah Faddoul, who is currently tied for fourth nationally with seven goals, scored the equalizer for the Panthers in 22nd minute. The Tigers played with 10 players for the final 57 minutes of the contest against GSU.
“I could not be more proud of the effort from the girls,” head coach James Armstrong said. “When I tell you they gave everything, they could not have given any more.”
With the draw on Sunday, the Tigers are now just the 10th team in program history to remain unbeaten through their first five games of the season.
Driver has been the catalyst to Auburn’s hot start as she leads the team in goals (3), assists (2) and points (8). Driver has tallied at least one point in each of Auburn’s last four games.
In its most recent match, UAB (1-3-1) conceded to No. 14 UCF on the road, 3-1. UCF grabbed an early lead on Naomi Clark’s goal in the first minute. Clark recorded a hat trick with two more goals in the 71st and 79th minute.
However, UAB’s lone win of the season came in a 4-2 victory over Georgia State.
Auburn currently leads the series with UAB 8-4, which dates back to 1996. The Tigers have won eight in-a-row and this match marks the first game between the two since 2021 when Auburn tallied a 4-1 victory at home.
